Chapter 99: Need To Practice More
Everyone was sunk deep in their excitement. They looked at the parchment in their hands with their eyes shining. Not even Lumia or Melika are exceptions to that.
In the end, even Alrith seemed to have lost any suspicions about the power of the “magic item” in his hand. He put it away with a serious expression as if it was valuable treasure. Even Vivian and Diere were a little unsure if the parchment in their own hands were actually powerful magic items or not.
In other words, no one there discovered that the magic just now wasn’t released by the parchment, but rather from Shien.
It couldn’t be helped though.
With the max leveled [Magic Control] skill, the current Shien could basically wield magic power as he willed. If he wanted to hide the release of magic power, it would be complete child’s play for him.
Given that, unless someone on scene had the maxed level [Magic Detection] skill, there’s no way that someone could detect the magic power that Shien carefully controlled then. If not, then not even a natural born mage like Melika the elf could detect the source of the magic power.
And were there anyone with the maxed level [Magic Detection] skill?
The answer was obviously not.
Thus, everyone had started wanting to try it out for themselves in excitement.
“I’ll try it too!”
Markray had no patience at all and so rushed before everyone else, and raised u the “magic item”.
“[Come on! Do it harder!]”
Since he kept in mind Shien’s reminder, Markray used the loudest voice he could without hesitation. That, combined with his own condescending tone and attitude make him seriously annoying.
“[Lightning]…”
At that moment, a whispered incantation was once again mixed in with that clear and loud voice. Thus, a great amount of magic power exploded out and transformed into a brlight bolt of lightning, blasting out with blinding speed.
Everyone just saw a white flash before the lightning bolt struck the ground some distance away. The thunderbolt struck down with a blinding flash before exploding.
Thus, a charred crater appeared on the ground in the distance. It was even continuously smoking.
“Haha! Great! So Amazing!”
Markray was excited to the point where he couldn’t even show anymore. He acted as if the power that appeared was his own. His nose practically touched the sky as if he was one step away from ordering everyone to kneel before him.
“Let me try too!”
As she saw that, Eudrice, as the daughter of a magic item merchant, couldn’t hold herself back anymore. She couldn’t wait to raise up her own “magic item”.
“I’ll give it a go too.”
Leon maintained his handsome smile, bu the excitement in his eyes couldn’t be hidden at all.
Just like that, both of them tried to test the effect of their “magic items”.
“[Yamete!]”
Eudrice loudly shouted out the shortest, and yet most spit-take worthy “incantation”.
“[If you’re a man, then do me already!]”
Leon on the other hand shouted out a sentence that could make all the women he’s managed to win over freeze in terror.
Unfortunately, no one there actually understood the meanings of those two sentences.
However, as the only person here who did understand, Shien finally couldn’t hold himself back anymore and begun laughing helplessly while holding his belly.
“W-What happened?”
“Shien?”
Vivian and Diere were both startled by Shien’s sudden laughter.
On the other hand, for Leon and Eudrice, when they saw that the “incantation” that they called out didn’t do anything, they ended up turning even more serious.
“It looks like we weren’t loud enough, or we made some kind of mistake in our pronunciation.”
“It looks like we need to practice more, Leon.”
The two of them exchanged opinions before determinedly started practicing.
“[If you’re a man, then do me already!]”
“[Yamete!]”
“[If you’re a man, then do me already!]”
“[Yamete!]”
Thus, Leon and Eudrice continuously attempted the “incantation”. In fact, the more they practices, the more into it they got, and the louder they shouted. Their voices were loud enough that they’ve started causing echos.
“Pff! Hahahaha!”
Shien laughed so hard that his stomach was hurting. He laughed to the point where tears leaked from his eyes, and he felt as if he was going to end up pulling his abdominal muscles.
Seeing Shien act like that, Lumia and Melika were both a bit worried, but they had no idea what was wrong with him. Vivian and Diere seemed to have realized that something was wrong though, and the corner of their eyes twitched uncontrollably.
“… Diere.”
“I know. I won’t be chanting that incantation or whatever even if I’m about to die.”
The two of them silently made that decision.
Of course, everyone else who didn’t know seemed to have been infected by Leon and Eudrice, and in ones and twos, they all started practicing on their own as well. Thus, various “magical incantations” that Shien couldn’t bear against continuously echoed out.
As for Lumia and Melika, when the two of them tried to start practicing, Vivian and Diere had stopped them with all their might.
Finally, for the sake of not laughing to his own death here in the wilds, Shien finally cast a few spells. That made everyone believe that their own practice had finally yielded results, and thus they, completely satisfied, put away their valuable “magic items”.
The sky had started turning dark at that point too, and the caravan of carriages also slowly decreased in speed until they finally stopped in the wilderness. Then, they started making preparations for the camp.
…
When the stars had filled the night sky, the escort group had also finished setting up the camp. Tents of various sizes were set up all around, and various campfires were also lit, illuminating the surroundings.
The knights and adventurers all started busying themselves. Some were preparing dinner, some were patrolling the area, and some where guarding a certain tent with seriousness and alertness. It was as if they were guarding some kind of treasure, and none of them dared to relax even a little.
However, what was inside the tent was not any kind of treasure, nor was it some important person to be protected. It was Jillian.
At that moment, Jillian was still bound up by the various sealing items. He was even tied to a pillar with various chains. His gaze was cold, and his expression dark.
“Have those guys still not come to rescue me?”
Jillian showed a cold expression, but in his heart burned nearly uncontrollable rage and humiliation.
This period of time, to Jillian, was like utter hell. He was in torment practically every single second.
It wasn’t that anyone interrogated him. Nor was it that anyone tried to torture him. Rather, to Jillian at least, being imprisoned by lowly human and then transported as they liked was something more painful to him than death itself.
Humiliating!
Humiliating!
Humiliating!
In Jillian’s mind, those words constantly repeated itself, deeply stabbing into his heart.
If he could commit suicide, Jillian wouldn’t have hesitated for a moment. That was just how deeply he felt humiliated.
