Chapter Volume 16 59: Devil King's Achilles' Heel
The inside of Purgatory Mountain was more lifeless than ever before. There were almost no Divine Adjudicators to be seen.
There were practically no famous Purgatory Mountain cultivators left now. Most of them were already fighting on the battlefield outside the mountain. Only, this type of empty Purgatory Mountain was still extremely dangerous. The power of some hidden mechanisms was far more dangerous than the threat of those Divine Adjudicators.
An archaic black robed elder appeared under some Purgatory Mountain cliffs.
This cliff was different from other places in Purgatory Mountain. It wasn’t completely lifeless, but rather full of finger thick golden grass.
In this dense grass, one could vaguely make out that the cliff itself was originally a red-purple color. They could even see that there were many abandoned mines on this cliff. Chilly winds whistled about, releasing an exceptionally strange and sinister feeling.
The archaic black robed elder walked into one of the abandoned mines with a calm expression. The mine entrance was extremely small, an ordinary person wouldn’t be able to stand straight here. Moreover, the further in one went, the more dirty the air became. All types of mysterious wailing sounds could be heard.
There were more and more forks that appeared in this cave, leading deeper and deeper into the cavern depths. Many of these forks didn’t have any human traces, yet there was a strange aura ordinary cultivators couldn’t sense vaguely transmitted from the very depths.
After searching and perceiving for a long time, this elder dressed in an archaic black robe finally picked up on this faint aura. He passed through a pool of turbid water, through a cave entrance flickering with green fluorescence, and then ultimately arrived at a cave room opened from ore excavation.
In the very depths of this cave, there was a puddle formed from water seepage.
The water was mixed with a bit of muddled yellow color because of some fine rocks mixed in. Some rotten wood was piled up on the side. Inside was an old savage whose clothes had long rotted, his hands already hacked off, face covered by messy hair and a beard.
This elder was extremely skinny, his craggy bones covered in a thin layer of skin. His eye sockets were already sunken like a skeleton. However, when this old fashioned black robed elder took the first step into this cave, he instead released a clear laughter.
“Who would have thought that I would get to meet an old friend in this type of place! Luo Houyuan, you’ve even made it all the way here! Could it be that Purgatory Mountain has already been wiped out by your Green Luan Academy?”
Under this type of laughter, the archaic black robed Academy Protector Luo Houyuan bowed slightly. “Qi Nilin, I didn’t expect to see you still alive.”
After a loud and resounding laughter, this elder’s next sentence instead became weak, his aura thin. “It feels amazing to finally hear someone call my name again. I’ve finally recalled some glorious memories worth being proud of.”
“The past Nanmo Country’s Great Master not only did not want to let Purgatory Mountain Patriarch replace the monarch and change the dynasty, he even wanted to take Purgatory Mountain Patriarch’s very place.” Luo Houyuan calmly nodded. “You naturally have enough things worth recalling.”
“But I still wasn’t a match for Purgatory Mountain’s Patriarch, I still lost. Then, I was tossed here.” This skeleton-like elder named Qi Nilin chuckled with his cracking leaf like lips. He said with a sigh, “The reason I was able to continue living here isn’t because there is water to drink, moss and mushrooms to eat, even some rats to catch from time to time, but because he already doesn’t care about me at all. In his eyes, I am already no different from the cultivators who he defeated and turned into slaves. After too much time has passed, apart from those old farts, there aren’t many people who still remember that a prisoner like me was casually thrown into this type of mine.”
“Purgatory Mountain Patriarch has already died, those six old things have also died. The one who has succeeded Purgatory Mountain Patriarch is a former Green Luan Academy student.” Luo Houyuan looked at him and said, “From a certain perspective, your revenge has already been completed.”
Qi Nilin’s dried leaf like eyelids moved slightly. He looked at Luo Houyuan with a type of gentle and moist eyes. “Why do you call him a former Green Luan Academy student?”
Luo Houyuan calmly said, “Because this Green Luan Academy student obtained the legendary Sky Devil Palace’s inheritance from Sky Devil Prison Plains. Then, he betrayed Green Luan Academy. Now, he is already even more powerful than the past Purgatory Mountain Patriarch, powerful to the extent where even though there are endless soldiers and cultivators attacking Purgatory Mountain right now, not a single person can truly face him.”
Qi Nilin laughed. “That is why your Green Luan Academy experts entered Purgatory Mountain only to learn some Purgatory Mountain secrets, find some help.”
Luo Houyuan nodded.
Qi Nilin sighed with amazement. “Who would have thought that not kicking the bucket after all this time would actually be of some use.”
Luo Houyuan still didn’t say anything. He only calmly looked at him.
Right now, the outside world had already forgotten that Nanmo Country used to have a Great Master Qi Nilin. The current Qi Nilin already had all of his cultivation for nothing, and his body withered to an unimaginable degree. He was already not much different from some slaves who were thrown deep into the mines after committing serious crimes. However, when Nanmo Country was wiped out many years ago after the battle of Meteor City, from a certain most confidential file in Green Luan Academy, they reached a certain inference from the few trusted aides that tracked down Qi Nilin. It was only because Qi Nilin knew some Purgatory Mountain secrets that he had enough confidence to replace Purgatory Mountain Patriarch. This was a secret not even the former Purgatory Mountain Patriarch knew about.
In the past battle of Meteor City, Qi Nilin, Principal Zhang and Luo Houyuan, these Green Luan Academy experts were mortal enemies. However, after Nanmo Country was wiped out and time passed, everything already became completely different.
“The real truth has always existed in the records of many sides.”
Qi Nilin looked at Luo Houyuan and said with a smile, “All sides will try to tamper a bit with the truth. The devil, for the sake of controlling the world, will naturally do his best to make himself seem a bit more powerful. However, these records might instead affect the thinking of later cultivators, making them completely believe everything they read.”
Luo Houyuan’s brows immediately furrowed deeply. He looked at Qi Nilin and asked seriously, “What kind of truth did you discover?”
“All of the current world’s cultivation methods seem to originate from the past so-called immortal dao branch cultivators, but all lost the most important part. However, even if it was the most powerful immortal dao cultivator, they have their own weaknesses as well. Their weakness lies precisely with their own bodies’ weakness.” Qi Nilin’s lips curled up, saying quietly, “However, in a certain ancient text I received, it was clearly recorded that the bodies of cultivators who cultivate the devil dao also have a fatal flaw in the techniques they cultivate as well.”
Luo Houyuan’s eyes flickered intensely. “What you are trying to say is that even if it is the complete inheritance from the former Sky Devil Palace, there is still a weakness in itself?”
“Correct.”
Qi Nilin didn’t blue-ball him. He said with a difficult smile, “All devil kings have their achilles’ heel.”
Luo Houyuan’s mind was immediately overwhelmed with shock.
Today, all of these experts entered Purgatory Mountain during this battle to find some deeper level secret about Purgatory Mountain, as well as to destroy some of Purgatory Mountain’s true power along the way. However, he never expected Qi Nilin to actually speak about this type of shocking secret.
Only, achilles’ heel… he couldn’t understand this at all. In the battle of Central Continent City, through the descriptions of some experts who personally witnessed the first battle, they were almost certain that at one point, almost every part of Zhang Ping’s body had been crushed. If his body had an achilles’ heel, then he should have already died at that time.
Qi Nilin slowly raised his head, his vertebra releasing a dry and rough noise, as if it might snap at any time.
