Chapter 280

Tap

Reyan landed on the ground after creating a huge aura slash towards one of the groups charging at them. The aura slash had hit the group of people hard, injuring some, cutting a few limbs, and killing some others on its path.

“They are not strong though.”

Standing beside him was Serria who was also about to create an aura slash. Her black aura slash which was smaller and weaker than Reyan’s hit a building and broke its pillars. The building came down crumbling, filling the whole area with dust.

“Gah! What do you think you are doing?”

“Cough. Sorry sorry. I didn’t think it would go that way!”

The two of them covered their noses and jumped back to avoid any attacks that they might not notice due to the dust.

BAAANGGG

.....

BOMMMM

“GAH!”

“Arghhh!”

They could hear loud noises and screams from all directions. The unit has divided themselves into smaller groups to fight the enemies that were attacking them from different places, thus there was a battle going on wherever they glances.

“There are still more left-”

BOOOOMMMM

ONNNGGG

Serria couldn’t finish her words as the ground shook and she stumbled back.

“Tsk! This thing again!”

This happened quite a lot since the battle started. The ground would shake occasionally. The shakings were not strong, but they were enough to distract them from their battle. Fortunately, the enemies got distracted more than them after each shaking. Maybe it was because these soldiers were wary of the person who was behind the shakings but the unit 5 members were not, as the latter thought of him as help but the former as an enemy, but even the latter couldn’t be so relaxed in this situation.

“What does this bastard want from us now?”

He had come here all the way to save them? Why would he do that? He pretended that he had come here accidentally and didn’t expect to see them, but they weren’t fools. They could understand that he was here intentionally.

“Did Kairen make him do it?”

“Don’t be ridiculous!”

Serria raised her sword while talking.

“How could he-”

Clangggg

And deflected an attack aimed at her neck.

“Make that monster do something like this?”

The attacker took a step back, moved his feet, and swung his sword again. He was one of the agents belonging to Bordkly. Compared to the other soldiers, he was quite talented and powerful. That made Serria smirk.

“He was also injured. I don’t think he had the time and power to persuade that man.”

While she was fighting against the agent, Reyan was also busy dodging the bullets of another agent. He hadn’t managed to find the location where he was being shut as the bullets changed trajectory as soon as they were fired and came to him from different directions. While thinking about the ability that the sniper might be using, Reyan opened his mouth to answer Serria.

“That man had always acted favorably towards Kairen.”

TAK TAK TAK TAK

The bullets dug to the ground one by one as he was jumping around. They landed right where he was standing before he jumped back. The attacker was skilled, he could say, but not enough to harm him with these small tricks.

Reyan raised his sword to the air. Aura started to spin and dance around the blade like water.

BOMMMM

As soon as slashing the left shoulder of the enemy agent, Serria pulled her body to the side to dodge the attack coming to her from the side and dug her sword deeper into the person’s shoulder. Ignoring the screams of the man, she added some mana to the aura-coated blade of her sword.

“You are right. He even saved him from that man. I really can’t understand what is going on.”

A few symbols, floating all around her in the air, shone for a second before the mana inside her aura blade suddenly ignited.

“AARGGHHH!”

The agent screamed as flames burned his flesh and covered his body. Serria jumped back to avoid burning with her own flames. The agent she was facing had long dropped his sword and was struggling to put out the fire.

“Can’t we just ask him?”

Reyan muttered.

ONGGG

The sword he was holding was shining bright like the sun. No one could say that the blade under that coat of aura was actually black at this point. His golden aura, dancing around his sword, moved towards the center of the blade before taking the shape of a ring. The ring of aura got thinner and thinner till it looked almost like a thread.

“Wow! You can already do that?”

“Of course, I can!”

A smirk found its way to Reyan’s face after he saw Serria’s surprised face and sparkling eyes.

“Eeh? Doesn’t that mean you will become a sword master soon?”

“Heh!”

Reyan smirked once again before he moved his blade. As the sword moved, the tip of the thread made out of his gold aura also moved in the air, swiftly and elegantly, like a straw swaying in the wind. The long thread spread out more as the sword moved, one tip going around in the air while the other tip of the string was still tied to the sword, but the string was so long that it didn’t seem like it would reach its end even if it circled around the whole place three times.

“Eww, why does your unique aura art looks so pretty? It doesn’t suit you, tsk!”

Serria said as a huge amount of envy and disgust was seen on her face.

“Watch how cool and elegant I am and burn in the flames of jealousy!”

“You-”

Serria really wanted to smack this man on the back of his head, but she held herself back. While she was struggling to stop herself from beating up the man beside her, another bullet was shot towards Reyan, actually the due.

SLASH

But the blade couldn’t even reach them. It was cut down before it. The blade was slashed in half after it made contact with the long, thin thread that was surrounding the two.

“Why didn’t you use it before we got captured?”

Serria glared at Reyan as if she had found him redhanded.

“I was afraid that my blade might break. But this blade is sturdy, I don’t think it will take any damage.”

Reyan smiled after seeing the sight of the bullets being cut one by one. He then twisted his wrist. The thread that was calmly and aimlessly floating around tensed up from the move and the whole thing suddenly spread around in a circular form.

ZAAAAAPPPP

BOMMMMMMMMM

And cut anything down on its way.

“Wow!”

A gasp of admiration scaped Serria’s lips despite her not intending to have any reaction to the destructive power of Reyan’s unique aura art.

Reyan smiled happily, looking around with a face that he did his best to look neutral but still had some hints of pride.

No bullets were shot at him anymore. He couldn’t find the location of the sniper, but it seemed like he had taken care of that person in the end.

ONGGGGG

The ground shook once again.

“Ack!”

Grabbing Reyan’s arm not to fall down, Serria cursed the man who was making the ground shake under her lips before looking up.

“Hey!”

She nudged Reyan’s side.

“Aren’t we almost done?”

“Yeah.”

Reyan also raised his head and looked at where the girl was looking at. They were both staring at the boy who was sitting on top of the tallest stone wall and was looking down while swinging his feet. A lot of other stone walls were placed in various ways and directions to protect him and there was also a magic barrier around him, so no attack could reach him at all.

“Should we go up?”

Serria pointed at the walls.

“Do you think it’s possible?”

.....

Reyan peeked in one direction. He couldn’t really see it, but he could hear a lot of screams and huge blasts coming from a spot behind the walls. He knew for sure that the one behind those horrifying sounds was the owner of these walls.

“You scared that he might attack you?”

Serria smirked at Reyan as if to provoke him.

“I’d call it being careful.”

“He might attack us if we go up and he might not. If Kairen really persuaded him to help us, then I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem if we went up to talk to Kairen. But if he has other plans and wants to hurt us, then it’s better to know it sooner and think about a solution.”

“....”

Reyan stared at the girl with nonchalant eyes.

“You are only dying of curiosity.”

He didn’t need to hear all of those explanations as he knew what kind of person Serria was and that she wouldn’t give a damn about the things she just said. She only wanted to go up and ask Kairen what was going on.

“Whatever! We should at least try! I will go alone if you don’t come with me!”

“Sigh!”

Reyan sighed and nodded his head.

“Fine. Let’s go.”

Although he didn’t admit it, he too was dying of curiosity.
