Life didn't get easier, even in another world.

Chapter 326

I thought, for a moment, that my land survived catastrophe somehow... and kept living in that place, where I didn’t even know their language, for a while.

Until I met Samuel again.”

“In the new world?”

“Yeah. In the place where I hoped to be in my own world, I met Samuel again. But he had changed. His hair had turned white, his pupil has lost color, and his skin was pale. He had changed so much that I couldn’t distinguish who he was for a while.”

“Wait, wasn’t he that white from the beginning?”

Kairen’s sudden comment made the man chuckle.

“Nope. He wasn’t that white from the beginning... He told me that it was a result of him using the original device to protect himself from chaos. Unlike me, who had a protection gadget with me, he was alone with the chain-twisting device when the chaos hit us. Well, that’s not important.”

He shrugged his shoulders mindlessly. Reynold stared at one spot in the air before his face started to slightly turn red.

.....

“Damn, I talked so much. I feel so embarrassed.”

He covered his face with his palms.

“...What?”

The man turned around, making Kairen face his back.

“Call me mentally unstable or anything but I don’t want to talk to anyone for at least three days.”

“What the- why all of a sudden?”

To say that Kairen was bewildered and confused would be underestimating the true amount of his shock at the moment.

‘This dude was like... babbling like a storyteller until a few seconds ago?’

Kairen didn’t even try to hold himself from stating his mind.

“You were fine about telling all those things up until now? What’s with the sudden embaressment?”

“I just realized that I was talking too much.”

“No, you weren’t!”

“I know I’m annoying. Don’t say more.”

“What the-”

Are you a kid? What’s wrong with you dude!?

“But the story was getting interesting!”

Upon hearing that, Reynold slowly lowered his hands and turned his head a little bit.

“It was getting interesting? You mean it wasn’t interesting until now?”

“.....”

Kairen pinched the bridge of his nose.

“No, it was indeed interesting.”

“....How can you call my misery ‘interesting’?”

“....”

Kairen glanced at the redhead for a moment, only to see him about to jump at him and beat the shit out of Kairen.

“I... didn’t mean that-”

“Do you think that I was telling you a fantasy story until now?”

“...”

Kairen, once again, started to move back on his bed due to fear.

“That was my fucking life! You dumbass bastard! Look who am I talking to! Someone who thinks I’m telling a fairytale!”

“B-but that was a little bit too much for me, you see! I’m dumb! I-I’m sorry, sir!”

SLAMMM

Reynold suddenly slammed to the ground.

“He took all of my words as a joke!”

And yelled angrily.

‘Why do all people around me switch modes so easily?

Am I the problematic one, or should I take them all to a psychologist?’

He probably had to put Reynold on top of the list of the people whom he had to worry about their mental health, even above Aaron.

“I’m sorry!”

“I should’ve never even talked to you!”

“It was my fault! I’m sorry!”

Kairen kept apologizing to the angry man, who looked to be about to burst into flames.

“I should’ve never talked about that past...”

Reynold’s voice suddenly sank down. His head lowered and his gaze fell to the ground. He stood like that for a few seconds before suddenly covering his face with both hands.

“It’s so embarrassing!”

“....”

The redhead slowly turned his back to Kairen.

‘No, why is he like this?’

Kairen was worried about this dude. What should he do?

‘Gah, I feel bad now.’

Imagine talking about your tragic past to someone who was the reincarnation of someone you knew and you’ve saved, only for the fool to call your life a fantasy story!

‘I would feel bad as well!’

The man was now hugging his knees. What happened to your cool image and strong personality dude? Why are you like this?

“Uhm... Um, so what happened next?”

Kairen tried to change the subject.

“...”

Reynold didn’t give an answer.

“After you met with Samuel in that new world.”

“....”

“Ah, by the way, was the new world the world I lived in?”

“No...”

Kairen finally heard a quiet answer.

“Then what happened?”

“...It got destroyed...”

Reynold mumbled.

“And the world after it, and then the next world...”

Kairen’s brows raised up.

“What? Why?”

“Irregularity swallowed them one by one.”

Irregularity? Wasn’t that the thing that was created after Reynold’s world got destroyed?

“How is that possible?”

“....”

Reynold raised his head a little bit.

.....

“Irregularity is like a wave. After the thing that happened to our world, it started to spread around like a tsunami, swallowing and destroying the various worlds on its path.”

Destroying all of the various worlds on its path?

“Isn’t it too much of an aftereffect for just a small change in a chain?”

“The small change... It was actually... Hmm... I don’t remember.”

The redhead tilted his head and massaged his temples.

“You don’t remember what?”

“...Something that The Reason told me... I can’t remember it...”

Ah, he has forgotten the words of the god- wait what?

“You’ve talked to The Reason?”

“Yeah. Once before her death he called me and said something about... something... But I can’t remember it.”

No! Wait!

“H-her death?”

Kairen stuttered.

“The Reason is dead? She is dead? Isn’t she the god? Yeah?”

How is that even possible?

“Not really dead but... The existence called The Reason doesn’t exist anymore... She devived her consciousness to create different creatures that carried on her will and her power.”

“Different gods?”

That was the first thing that came to mind after hearing about The Reason deviving herself.

“No... Rather, different watchers.”

Reynold slowly lowered his knees, which he had been hugging until then, and sat straight, though his back was still facing Kairen.

“Some have a consciousness, and some are just... something like a concept. They exist without having a body or soul, but their existence is a pillar to keep the world up.”

Reynold turned his head to look at Kairen.

“The Reason divided her power and consciousness into different aspects... She created a total of six beings or concepts...”

Reynold raised his hand and showed Kairen a ‘6’ with his fingers.

“Her spirit shattered to the whole universe. It spread around to reach every world. The spirit carried a great amount of power in it, the power you guys now call ‘mana’.

Her authority, the power to control a part of the principles of the world, was now free from its master. It kept on ruling the universe while searching for connectors in the world to help them keep everything in check. This is what you call the power of law.

Her consciousness, which had faded and damaged to a degree, then turned into a concept. A being with consciousness, which also had great power in his possession. Maybe even stronger than The Reason.”

Kairen tilted his head.

“A new being with greater power than the god?”

Reynold contemplated on something a little bit.

“He might actually not be stronger than her, but he has more freedom than The Reason that was trapped and restricted with the chain.”

So the new beings were separated from the chain, but supported it? Isn’t that actually better than an asleep god?

“Then, is he the new god?”

Reynold shook his head.

“He is just a being. Something that is there, and yet not there. He is the one who holds the threads of the world in his hand, yet doesn’t intervene with it much. He is just a watcher. He is the Fate.”

Almost instantly, Kairen’s brows raised up and he jumped a little bit in his bed.

“The Fate?”

Reynold’s lips curled up a little bit.

“Seems like you’ve heard of him before.”

“Wait, the Fate is real? There is really someone named Fate?”

The redhead nodded his head.

“There is indeed a being name Fate, who is Fate and controls the Fate, who reads, writes, and commands Fate. After The Reason decided to vanish from the chain, the powers in her control had no master. Her ability to control the chain, to control the time and space, to control the worlds, were masterless.

So they all came under Fate’s command. He, as the holder of the fate of the world, can grant people the power they wish, can command time, space, and nature to head to the words of a human, and can convince principle to share a part of its authority with a chosen human. They are all under Fate’s control.”
