Life didn't get easier, even in another world.

Chapter 333

He still didn’t know about the details of the things that happened in Reynold’s world as the ketchup bastard wasn’t back yet, but he didn’t really need him and his dramatic flashbacks to create his proper view and organize his knowledge.

‘First of all, the chain. The chain is still functioning and holding the world, but at the same time, it is being destroyed by a power named Irregularity. Irregularity is a power created due to Chaos and Abnormality clashing with each other and destroying the chain.

What happened to Chaos and Abnormality after that world was destroyed? They kept on moving from world to world, creating more and more Irregularity on their path. While these two powers clashed ever the years, their destructive power should reduce the more they clash, but mysteriously they still keep going on. There must be a reason for it... What can it be?

Irregularity is created out of the chain. As much as I was told, the power I have is similar to Irregularity. Actually, that emperor said that it was something between Irregularity and Chaos. As Reynold was the one who gave this power to me, I should wait for him to return to get a proper explanation about it.

According to the books Kain gave me, the cracks that appear when I use my power are actually... The remnants of the destroyed chain... I was surprised when I found out about that. I never thought that those things could be a part of the universal chain. I thought they were just some silly background effect to my power... huh!

They say Irregularity is produced from the clash of the chain and Chaos and Abnormality. If I can bring out a part of the destroyed chain when activating my power, doesn’t that mean I can also control a little bit of Chaos and Abnormality? After all, they are also the things that create Irregularity... I’m not sure though. I should ask Reynold about this as well.

The artifacts that the generals use are also linked to Irregularity and the after-effects that Alan mentioned are also a result of using this Irregularity thingy. This was what Stefan told me. He was the last emperor of the Empire so he had a great amount of knowledge about these ancient artifacts. That was also why he had taken Kain as his assistant because he knew that Kain was here because of those artifacts.

He also didn’t know much about how those things were made or why they were even created. He said that Reynold hadn’t told him anything regarding that issue throughout the hundreds of years that they were here.

.....

Really, that Raynold! Does he really like to keep people in the dark? Give proper answers, you goddamned bastard!

To think that this Irregularity thing would be the answer to half of my questions and the reason for half of my misery... How stupid!

There are also the powers that were divided from The Reason. If we also include Fate as one of those powers, it makes up to 6 power. There were seven temples in my world. Seven temples that the holy saint had created. And one of them was named after Chaos.

Does that mean Chaos can also be controlled by people? This is one of the reasons that make me think that I can also control chaos when using my power. Cause, if there was nothing like a controller of Chaos, then why would he name a temple after it?

But it is still unknown why Samuel created all those temples in that world. Reynold seemed to know the reason behind it, but he said nothing about it and just left. Ack! That damned thing! All of my questions need him to reach their final answer.

This place, where Reynold causally calls void and talks about its people as if they are nothing much, is actually amazing! I’ve met many people in the past few... uh... Days? While I was here... And some of them are actually famous! I’ve met a bunch of strong people who call themselves generals! Yeah! They are the ones who were killed by those artifacts! A few of them are friends of Kain. Apparently, after noticing that those artifacts had sent another soul here, they were so shocked that they couldn’t stay idly and avoid questioning Kain. As a result, they became close friends.

Some of them even knew me before I came here... Kain, you fool! Why would you talk about me in front of these cool guys?!

I’ve searched the books and documents in here for a while, but there was no information about how someone was supposed to get out of here. It was probably because... No one ever attempted to leave this place?

Like, these people are all dead! How could they think of going back to their world when they didn’t have a body to contain their soul? Also, a large portion of them don’t even have a world to return back to, so it’s only natural that they don’t have any information on how to get out of this place. Throughout the years, the only person who had ever left this land was Reynold, but no one questioned him about it or was surprised by that fact. It’s because he is in a similar position to me. He has a body, a living body, so he can leave the void and travel to the worlds of the living.

Once again, I have to wait for Reynold to come back! Damn it! How can someone annoy you so much when you’ve only been with them for a few days? He keeps annoying me even when he is gone!

Stefan told me that he would tell the story of his death to me and Kain very soon. He looked so excited when he was inviting us to his office to talk about that issue.

Is that really something interesting? Like... Why would someone be so proud that he had a tragic death... Maybe the dead are like this... Or maybe you become like this after you die...

After you die... Yeah. I’ve read a book about that as well. It is said that the soul would gradually lose its original feelings and characteristics after it leaves its body. A personality is a result of the body and soul’s combination, so once the soul is no longer attached to a mortal body, it starts to lose those traits gradually.

If the soul reincarnates, then those characteristics can be more or less moved to the new life of the soul, but not all of them, as the previous body and the new one are not the same. That’s why people live different lives and experience different things in their different lives.

On the other hand, when a soul enters the void, there is no way for it to keep its traits, as there is no mortal body, and there will never be one. So the souls here often act strange. They are easily swayed, change emotions, and move away from the person they were before their death. Some say that they can even gain the memories and characteristics of their previous lives if they live here for a long time.

Is that why Reynold switched moods so easily? But he is not dead though, he still has a body... Yet, that doesn’t change the fact that he had been living in the void for a long time.

Yeah. Kain is also weird even though he is not dead. He is still Kain, the same person I knew, but some of his characteristics seemed to have changed. For instance, he has become... He has become clingy! He starts crying over the smallest matter and also sticks to me all the time.

Damn! Now that I mentioned him, I can see him walking towards the door!’

Kairen hurriedly put down his pen and closed the notebook he had been writing on. Sitting straight, he stared at the shadow of his brother that was approaching him.

Click

The door opened at that moment and he saw a pair of dark-green eyes staring at him. Kain examined Kairen’s face before his gaze fell on the notebook in Kairen’s hand.

“That notebook again? Didn’t I tell you to stop reading books for the day and rest? Instead of getting better, your complexion is getting pale the more time passes! It’s because you don’t rest and don’t eat well! Hah! When are you going to listen to me?”

Just as Kairen expected, Kain started to nag at him the moment he entered the house.

“I wasn’t reading books.”

“Then why were you taking notes?”

“It’s just a diary!”

Kairen moved the notebook up and down before tossing it aside.

“...Why are you writing a diary?”

“I was bored. It’s fun to write down the things that happen to me.”

“Is that so...”

Tap

Kain put down the pile of books in his hands and took off the black vest he was wearing, before slumping down on the sofa. After staying like that for a while, Kain finally opened his mouth.

“Get ready. We are going to the castle.”

Kairen’s eyebrows raised a little bit.

“Oh, it’s time?”

“Yeah. Stefan said he wanted to tell us about his death...”

They were invited to listen to someone’s death story...
