Chapter 103: Parents With High Expectations for Their Children
Tears flashed through the boy’s eyes as he looked at the flattened ant on the ground. He bit his lip, crying silently.
Xiao Ying could not stand it anymore and said, “This child didn’t waste too much time. A child’s hobbies are important too.”
The woman’s expression became even more unsightly. She glared at Xiao Ying and said, “Who are you? I’ll educate my child myself. Can a hobby put dinner on the table when he grows up?”
With that, she brought the boy back home.
Cheng Jia suddenly said, “Zhou Yang is very pitiful. He has to attend many tutoring classes every day, and his mother has never allowed him to play with us.”
Xiao Ying was at a loss for words. She reached out to pick up the damaged ant on the ground. This child had made the best one.
After that, she had never seen Zhou Yang again. However, the remaining children had been learning more and more from Xiao Ying.
After they submitted their ant models, they received praise from their school.
The school even sent them to the city to participate in the elementary school inventor’s competition and they received the first prize.
The children held the trophy in their hands and spoke proudly on the school’s stage. Zhou Yang stood there in a daze.
Today, they continued to learn about the creation of the ants with Xiao Ying, except that they were surrounded by many other children who had come because of her reputation.
They were all from nearby elementary schools and basically all lived in the surrounding apartment complexes.
Xiao Ying glanced at the children who were looking at her pitifully and was a little distressed. She could not teach so many children.
Suddenly, she thought of a good idea and said to the kids she was originally teaching, “Let’s start a competition. There are five of you, and you’ll form five teams. You will be the team leader. Let’s compare which team makes the ant that runs the fastest, okay?”
The children nodded excitedly and started to discuss who they should find to be their team members.
Xiao Ying smiled and said, “Next Friday, we’ll hold the competition here. You have to teach your team members how to make ants. When the time comes, I’ll give you a reward for being the champion, but you can’t delay your studies. Otherwise, the competition will be canceled.”
They all nodded.
Soon, it was Friday. Today was the day of the competition.
Xiao Ying did not relax these days either. She looked at the things that had been prepared on the ground and smiled with satisfaction.
Xiao Ying had already arrived at the competition venue ahead of time and was preparing to draw a simple racetrack.
Unexpectedly, by the time she arrived, the basketball court by the side was fenced up. A large banner was hanging on a pulley.
“Run! Technological Ant Tournament!”
Xiao Ying walked over in a daze and saw that the basketball court had already become a decent competition ground.
The children had already gathered there and were discussing amongst themselves fervently.
There were also a lot of other people. Not only were the children there, but there were also parents, teachers, and even reporters and media.
Xiao Ying received everyone’s welcome the moment she arrived.
Even when she stood on the temporary podium, Xiao Ying did not understand how things had become like this.
She really only wanted to organize a simple competition.
Sensing something wrong, she looked up and met the gaze of Cheng Yang, who had just entered.
Xiao Ying no longer found it strange. This must be his doing.
She avoided his gaze awkwardly and looked at the excited children below. She could only brace herself and continue.
She raised her lips in a gentle smile and announced the rules of the competition.
Actually, it was very simple. They just had to see whose ant was the fastest.
“The first place team today will receive the big award I promised you.”
After a pause, she added, “Children, you are competitors, but you are also partners. Do you want the fastest ant to appear in your five teams?”
The children looked at each other and shouted, “Yes!”
