Chapter 115 - Retribution
Chapter 115: Retribution
I forced Su Qian to get me a wheelchair so that I could visit my uncle and Jing Tian. I was relieved when I saw them sleeping soundly.
Then I visited Lin Ran to look at their medical records. I suggested to Lin Ran that since those two went out even though they were injured, he needed to do everything he could to keep them at the hospital so that the world could be safe. Lin Ran agreed with me completely.
Then I went to see Auntie Bai Rui. Afraid of agitating her wounds, I only saw her through the window. I’d visit her in person after she recovered further.
Su Shen was on the way to a full recovery and I was very happy. My group of four was very busy. Like Gao Da and Gao Jing, they were busy even though they were injured. I heard that they had turned over a new leaf, for that, I was happy.
Jing Ni told me that we had scored enough to enter M University, but since we chose the more popular majors, we were still quite anxious. I comforted her. We had worked hard, so it would definitely pay off.
Jing Ni brought me update on the others. Due to her problem during the day of the exam, Nanyang’s score couldn’t even qualify her for a normal university.
Jing Ni then remembered to ask me, “Nanxing, how did you know they would tamper with the food?”
I shook my head. “I didn’t, I was only cautious. After so many things, they were still so kind to deliver food for me? That was just suspicious.”
Jing Ni sighed. “Mother and I couldn’t even see through that. Mother even thought they were good people.”
I smiled at her. “That’s because auntie is a kind person. If only everyone is as good as her. We need to work hard so that Auntie wouldn’t need to deal with these schemes anymore. We’ll have her protected from the dangers of the world!”
Jing Ni nodded and pulled herself together. “You’re right, Nanxing. I will work hard to protect mom.”
“What about Lee Yang? Did you hear from him?” I changed the subject.
Jing Ni’s face dropped. She shook her head and smiled. “Nanxing, he and I are from different worlds. We happened to meet but I will slowly forget about him. Don’t worry, romance is not within my schedule. For now, I need to work hard for a career first!”
I looked at her but I couldn’t smile. The world was still so cruel. It was a kind of bliss to have Auntie Bai Rui’s kind and naive heart. Of course, the premise was someone had to be there to protect her innocent heart. Jing Ni was not so lucky because she needed to be that warrior to protect Auntie Bai Rui.
“Ni Ni, if it’s meant to be, then it’s meant to be.” I didn’t know how to comfort her. Compared to her previous life, where she was forced into a rich family and then committed suicide one year later, I’d rather she stay by her mother to protect her.
After I found out about Lee Yang’s background and his connection to the 7 brothers, I was worried for Jing Ni. They might not be a perfect match as I imagined. So the only thing I could do was to keep Jing Ni around me to face the trials of life together.
This was a lesson that I had learned from 2 lifetimes, only when you are strong enough that you are qualified to pursue happiness. If you can’t even control your own life, then you’d always be the mercy of others!
Jing Ni’s eyes flashed with determination. “Nanxing, I’m fine. You don’t need to comfort me.” She changed the topic and whispered, “Nanxing, you like my little uncle, don’t you?”
I looked at her and smiled. “Yes, Jing Ni, he’s already in my heart.”
Jing Ni let out a long sigh. “I used to see you as my sister-in-law but something just didn’t fit between you and my eldest brother. However when you kept on distancing yourself from him, I still felt sorry for him. But now I realize what a good decision you’ve made! Based on my understanding of my little uncle, if you’re not there for him, he probably would be single for life. I wouldn’t want that for him. You are the perfect woman for him. I notice how his eyes light up when he sees you! Nanxing, my 7th uncle will love you for life.”
I smiled. I was certain that no one loved Jing Tian more than me. I would fight for my own happiness. No one would take it or destroy it!
