Chapter 130
And if the darkness element was to be added to another element, it would strengthen the other element, giving it a superior quality compared to the original quality that the element had.
And in the case of adding it to an earth elemental spell, the darkness element would make the earth tougher, and give the earth construct an absorbing quality that made it even more resilient to attacks.
And that absorption was also the characteristic that had saved Blake from receiving internal damage to his body despite him receiving a monstrous punch from the skeletal wing demon back then.
The force of the blunt weapon, which was the skeletal wing’s demon fist, which was supposed to have gone past the initial armor and head straight to Blake’s body, was absorbed by the darkness element and spread evenly all over the surface of the dark earth armor, hence why it prevented Blake from taking internal damage.
Now that the same thing was happening to the circular earth wall with the man-sized fireball inside it, the circular earth wall still stood proudly despite the fireballs that had been thrown toward it in an attempt to break it apart.
The force and heat of the fireballs that were supposed to have been concentrated in one place to do as much damage as possible to a certain part of the darkish earth wall were all spread apart as much as possible, significantly weakening the strength of the fireballs.
Blake heaved a sigh of relief when he saw his dark earth construct was able to hold onto the human-sized fireball as he would be having a really, really tough battle if even the dark earth spell wasn’t able to manage the heat that the variant type of demon was able to produce with its body.
It was quite amusing to him to learn that the variant type demon was very strong and capable of destroying ordinary earth spells without even drawing a single rune and spawning several fireballs at once.
.....
It looked like a cheat to him, but at least now he found out why he would probably be considered to be a variant type demon by the other humanoid demons considering he was able to cast two spells in only a matter of a second.
But Blake wasn’t the only one who was amused. The man-sized fireball that was trapped inside the circular dark earth wall, also found it amusing.
It was its first time ever seeing something that didn’t instantly melt or break when faced with its fire elemental attacks.
And seeing that the dark earth circular wall didn’t plan to do otherwise anytime soon, the variant type demon decided to change its approach again.
Instead of trying to break the circular dark earth wall, the variant type demon sent a large amount of fire elements downward and caused several consecutive explosions to happen, which then made itself to be launched upward, up and away from the circular earth wall that didn’t have a roof covering the top of it.
And by using even more explosions, drawing fire elements out of nowhere as if it had an inexhaustible amount of it, the variant type demon used the small explosions to keep itself flying upward, reaching the same height that Blake was currently gliding on.
Blake was about to complain that it was unfair that the variant type demon was able to do that, but before his mind could even think of the words of complaint, Blake had to jerk his body sideways by adjusting his wings.
And it was none other because the variant type demon had released a fire blade, similar to a wind blade, but as its name suggests, fully made out of fire, straight towards his left side.
With the violent jerking that almost caused him to lose his balance while still gliding in the air, Blake was forced to complete dodging mode after he had barely regained his balance as more fire blades and fireballs were thrown his way.
And mind that the variant type demon didn’t even draw a single rune while doing all this.
With maybe a wave of its hand or whatever body parts it had, it kept sending fireballs and fire blades toward Blake without stopping a single second.
‘Curse this shi-‘ Blake’s cursing was stopped halfway as he had to do a barrel roll to dodge two fireballs that were thrown at him.
Blake didn’t know whether the variant type demon wasn’t able to send 10 fireballs straight when it was still causing small explosions to keep itself flying or it was just simply found terrorizing Blake to be funny.
But the variant type demon seemed to have limited itself to throwing two kinds of attacks at once, not more, making it possible for Blake to do amusing maneuvers to try and dodge them.
If the variant type demon had thrown more than he could handle, Blake would have already abandoned trying to dodge the attacks and just sent out another one of his prepared rune formations to create another darkness barrier to defend against those barrages of fireballs or fire blades.
However, his prepared rune formations were limited in number, and he wouldn’t want to waste it to defend against only one or two attacks, hence why he did those maneuvers while exercising his gliding skills using his wings.
But eventually, the fun exchange between the two had to end when Blake’s body had finally glided down close enough to the ground.
Using his two hands to cast two darkness barrier spells, Blake manifested the barrier behind him and defended himself against one fireball and one fire blade.
With the two barriers, Blake didn’t need to do erratic movements and break his balance, hence the moment the fire attacks met his barrier, Blake quickly folded back his wings and free falled to the ground that was only about 7 meters below him.
He was put at a great disadvantage when flying through the air as he couldn’t use all his limbs to their full potential, and most of his spells worked if he was on the ground, hence why he decided to take the fight back to the ground if he ever wanted to defeat the variant type demon.
Blake then started running away, while keeping his eyes on the variant type demon that was still using tiny explosions to stay afloat in the air.
A few moments after Blake decided to come back down to the ground, the variant type demon realized what Blake had done and with the fires around its body weakening for a slight moment, the variant type demon followed Blake back down to the ground.
Noticing the fire of the variant type demon weakening for just a moment before it decided to follow Blake back down, Blake couldn’t help but think,
‘Is it just me or did it just feel disappointed that it couldn’t continue throwing fireballs and fire blades at me while flying in the air...?’
