Chapter 194
“Is it true? Is the gray wolf this vicious?” Vopor became perplexed.
Vopor could feel hate and anger whenever he tried to complete the familiar taming process. However, Vopor thought it was a common thing because the familiars are mostly taken from their parents.
*Growl!*
“Yes. He wants to do as I said, and... he wants to leave the human that painfully bound it with burning and painful glowing chains for last.” Lupa added.
“Vincent Vincent, Plow wants to bite the big mean wolf. Plow will not lose bed! *Pho*.” Plow became angry for the wrong reasons.
“Astonishing! This is the fourth familiar I heard talking in my life. No wonder Vopor couldn’t stop talking about you guys, hahaha.” Byron laughed while teasing his son.
.....
“Dad...” Vopor blushed.
[Hmm, why does it feel like the threats the gray wolf is saying are all ignored. Does this mean that people usually force familiars to submit instead of a mutual bond like you and Plow?]
[It seems that making a familiar submit is to use the mana or the tamer and chain the magic core of the familiar.]
-It doesn’t sound pleasant. At least this noble family knows it’s wrong, yet they must think this is the only way to continue.-
Byron seemed slightly angered by Lupa’s words. He pulled the vicious gray wolf and tied the leash on the window pillar of the wooden gazebo.
Byron then took a seat inside, and the maid previously offering beverages to Vincent, Ester, Lupa, and Plow immediately offered her lord a cup of tea as if it was a daily thing.
“Lupa, can you beat some sense into the gray wolf? Just make the gray wolf understand who the real predator is.” Vincent decided the best plan was to make the wolf submit temporarily. Then he asked Lupa to check if there are additional problems or the gray wolf is too wild and vicious to tame.
“Leave it to me, my mate. You can rest while I show the authority of the Alpha’s right-hand woman of my pack.” Lupa cracked her knuckles and prepared to teach the gray wolf who the boss is.
Vincent, Ester with Plow in her arms, and Vopor joined Byron in the wooden gazebo. They drank, ate a few snacks while partaking in a few chats about the city and the Aero Forest. The more they talked, the less nervous Vincent and Ester became. Byron didn’t look like a noble at all.
*Lupa asserting her dominance time*
Lupa approached the untamed gray wolf. She glared and began extruding murderous intent to intimidate the angry gray wolf. It didn’t take long for the gray wolf to start hiding its fangs from Lupa’s stronger presence.
“You better stop saying kill this, kill that, kill you. Do you know what it means to kill, weak pup? I killed monsters more than ten times your size.” Lupa sneered.
*WOOF!, WOOF!*
*Smack*
“Shut your mouth, weak pup! How dare you mention my family! I hate male gray wolves. They killed my parents.” Lupa became furious after the gray wolf seemed to have threatened her. She slapped the gray wolf as she learned from Vincent.
*Growl...*
*Smack*
“My parents are pureblood! You bastard! My mate is the only one for me! One more rude word, and I will bring that small fox to beat your butt. Yes, that little blue fox is stronger than you.” Lupa delivered another slap and added insult to injury by saying that Plow is stronger than the trice the sized gray wolf.
*Whimper*
Previously, the gray wolf noticed an ominous presence being held by a red-headed woman. Not knowing the authenticity of Lupa’s words, the gray wolf started to believe Plow was stronger than it. The gray wolf gradually surrendered to the unruly Lupa.
The gray wolf had no choice. Not only could Lupa understand wolf language, but she also slapped at any words containing malice entering her ears.
Lupa smirked after the gray wolf stopped being stubborn and angry. “Now sit!” Lupa demanded, trying to keep her intimating persona alive.
The gray wolf glared for a second before Lupa raised her hand for another slap. As the threatening Lupa was too much to resist, the gray wolf not only sat on its rear, but it rested its head on the ground, displayed its will to submit.
“Now, tell me why you wanted to kill us. Keep it friendly, or I will bitch slap you again.” Lupa demanded and threatened at the same time.
*Woof, woof, woof...*
“Hmm, hmm... go on... tortured by bright chains... hmm... disgusting food... all alone... ” Lupa said while nodding.
*Inside the gazebo*
Minutes then hours trickled by.
Byron was greatly interested in knowing about Vincent’s taming experience, so he asked many questions. Vincent did his utmost best with Kazumi’s help to answer with “I thought it wouldn’t hurt to try” or “I heard nothing should happen if I failed” most of the time.
Vincent kept a poker face while his heart raced. It took some time to explain how Plow accepted for a silly reason. However, Plow pouted and interrupted with, “Plow likes warm bed *Pho!* My bed is not silly *Pho!*.”
Byron gradually understood what Vincent’s plan to help was. About how such a meager interest could help bring close the tamer and familiar. How to make a familiar submit would bring a different outcome.
Unfortunately, most or all nobles are taught by their previous generations that to tame means to make the familiar submit. The honor of the family was at stake.
The noble families mostly use methods to make familiars submit with their mana. As for those born without mana, the blood taming techniques would mostly incorporate poisons to charm the familiar.
To save face, the nobles make their familiars submit and showcase the master and familiar relationship. It would be an embarrassing sight to reveal a tamed familiar that doesn’t obey their master’s orders to other high-ranking nobles.
Furthermore, Byron never thought of employing a Beastman with the shapeshifter class. One with an identical animal counterpart and can communicate with animals.
This problem is all because of how nobles are raised and forced to believe. However, after seeing the results of making a deal instead of forced submission, Byron started to consider how Vincent’s method is better.
‘If I knew of this possibility... the poor five familiars my damn father killed because they attacked me would be alive...’ Byron bitterly recalled a memory he wished to forget.
Unlike Byron, his father was an aggressive person. Only he was always right, and his way was the only way. Byron didn’t like his father when he was alive. After the previous head of the Sunrise passed away, Vopor could grow in a warm and friendly environment as Byron wanted his son to have what he never had.
“It might sound silly, but most nobles don’t reveal how they find or tame familiars. We used our family’s previous generation as teaching, which is to bind the magic core of the familiar with our mana and force it to submit instead of a compromise like you are trying to accomplish.” Byron revealed.
Then he looked at his son and added, “A noble’s authority should not be undermined. Actions can have repercussions, and maintaining the reputation of the family is all it matters. Every noble is taught this while growing up.”
“Father. You aren’t like the others. You are the one who taught me that everyone has different thoughts and different imaginations. Creativity is one to share and not shove away.” Vopor said. Then he expressed a slightly sad frown and continued, “And if push comes to shove, do as mother would’ve done. Confront with all our courage and determination.”
“My son, you are correct. The Sunrise Construction Company has the best successor waiting to be inherited when I retire, and you make your mother proud. The company and its people will be in safe hands. ” Byron revealed his profession and how the lady of the family might have passed away. Furthermore, it appears he is teaching his son not to be arrogant to his employees and servants.
“Ahem... where were we.” Byron cleared his throat to continue on the previous subject.
Byron felt somewhat embarrassed that his son had to force the gray wolf to submit with his grandfather’s teachings. However, the method is a secret one. A method only passed by words and not by written records. Furthermore, it isn’t very comfortable to ask another noble for their taming techniques.
“To be honest, I was against bringing help since it will give the Aristocrat Faction more subjects to ridicule us with. Saving face made us not realize our mistake and continue to force the gray wolf to submit.” Byron honestly continued.
It made Vincent, Ester, and Kazumi consider Byron was more approachable than they thought. Byron Sunrise is a Marquis, yet he isn’t arrogant and knows when to adjust to the situation.
‘Is it because the nobles think money solves everything?’ Passed through Vincent’s, Ester’s, and Kazumi’s minds.
Byron looked at Vincent and raised a smile, “However, after my son mentioned your name, my decline changed, and my interest piqued. The next thing he said was how you tamed a talking familiar.”
“I heard from Vice Captain Plavin, the man who interrogated you, how a man with bandages, unique green eyes, and named Vincent Agius possess the identification card of the Heavenly God Mantis sect. ” Byron revealed.
Byron then became serious all of a sudden and continued, “A friend I don’t want to reveal told me how I should be able to trust any person holding the identification card you have. He mentioned how only trustable people are allowed to hold what you have in your possession.”
