Chapter 306
Vincent knew how taking care of pets always brings people closer, so he hoped taking care of Nix could help Iris and Lilith.
Vincent hoped Iris could become closer with the others and try to speak even if she felt shy and embarrassed in the process. He knew the hardships Iris has to face as he was like her one time.
Vincent also hoped Lilith could get accustomed to living with people she didn’t know for longer than two days.
Vincent thought about this subject while not adding Sakura to the mix. He looked at Sakura and asked, “Sakura, could you show me where the workshop will be constructed?”
Sakura nodded. She stood up with a *bam* and waved her hand once to be followed, creating a light breeze. She jumped over the handrails as if it was nothing for her and started walking.
Vincent smirked as he guessed why Sakura didn’t want to pass him from the gazebo’s entrance of the size two of persons. He turned around and started following her.
Sakura looked back after a minute or so. She saw Vincent following her with a smile on his face. He was alone as Plow stayed back and enjoyed rolling on the overgrown grass.
“We are here. ” Sakura said after she led Vincent to a vast empty corner... well, the trees were plucked like flowers and piled on each other. There were ten or more trees, as it was difficult to estimate their numbers accurately.
.....
[No wonder Fliara strangely mentioned how the man was covered in sweat. I wonder how often he fainted or was surprised silly by things like what is in front of us.]
-Sakura whet all out, it seems, huh!... She is scary when she acts rowdy and rough.-
[I can assume Sakura’s brothers treated her like a brother and a blacksmith instead of a feminine sister. Now she wants to change, but she fails most of the time miserably, haha.]
[Just look at the destruction in front of us. The small pits in the ground need to be filled back with soil before any work could be done.]
-...-
“Please, don’t stare at the ground... I need to fill the holes after I acted.” *Sigh* Sakura let out a melancholic sigh. “I wanted to show the human how I can help... but I soon realized how fragile humans are.”
Sakura turned her head toward Vincent, yet she averted her gaze. “All the humans I saw before you and Lilith were evil. But now, I met with more good-natured humans than I thought I would meet in my entire life. I also discovered how scared humans can be when they see a big rock hard demon like me...”
“That’s great!” Vincent interrupted.
Sakura stopped averting her gaze and looked at Vincent with a frown. Her heart raced out of the intense worry and fear of being abandoned by the man who encouraged her to choose life over death.
“Ahem.” Vincent cleared his throat when he realized how his words made Sakura and Kazumi misunderstand his intention.
“What I am trying to say is how it’s great that no one will want to steal you away from me. *Cough* “I tried to gain more free construction-related stuff while it was being offered and asked about a workshop.” Vincent scratched his cheek and tried to change the subject, but he saw Sakura staring at him. The subject didn’t appear to change as he wanted.
*Cough* “I can’t change the subject, can I?...” Vincent feared Sakura might suffer mentally after the ordeal she passed from and how she was left to die after being humiliated and tortured.
Vincent didn’t want to force Sakura to be with him because of such thoughts. However, he didn’t know what was on Sakura’s mind to choose a second life by becoming his retainer over death.
“Please know that I am not forcing you to be my woman as it will ultimately be your choice to have me as your man or live a pleasant life here. If you don’t want me because it will make you recall the horrible days you suffered in the hands of...”
*Crack* Was the sound coming from an abrupt bear hug.
Vincent suddenly suffered from a rough embrace. Shortly, he heard Sakura say with a saddened voice, “You don’t want me now after all you did for me? What about the investment part?”
“Why do you keep guiding me as if I have a choice? I don’t have a choice but to keep asking if I, the romantically unwanted oni Sakura am suitable to be your life partner.” Sakura seemed to be at her limits with a problem many people suffer from.
“But... you keep asking me if I want to be your woman yet never say you want me.” Sakura had a tear in her eye as she revealed the feeling she kept from the moment her second chance in life started.
Both Vincent and Sakura stayed at an undecided stand in the end. One of them had to tip the scales, and Sakura might be the one to initiate the process.
Sakura perceived Vincent didn’t seem to dislike looking at her, yet he kept his distance as if he was afraid of something. She, however, couldn’t guess how Vincent didn’t want to hurt her by bringing up unhappy memories.
Sakura wanted to hear Vincent decide once and for all if she was really wanted by him romantically or everything he said was like smoke in the wind.
On the other hand, Vincent wanted Sakura to decide by herself as he disliked forcing important choices on others, yet he unknowingly started a loop of uncertainty.
The loop was similar to when people say, “What do you want to do? Everything is okay with me. ”
While the other side responds with, “But, what do you want to do? Everything is good with me as well.”
[Looks like it is time to make a capture and stop this cringy scene.]
[Even I feel like you should have already learned how to push forward and stop thinking about any unnecessary details. Sakura needs to hear your reply. One where you stop considering if being forceful will hurt her or not.]
[Life is a gamble, so be a man and assault her lips. Be a man and stop making her consistently worry that she might be rejected whenever she makes a blunder with her rough personality.]
Kazumi suggested breaking the endless loop of waiting for someone to make the final choice.
Vincent raised his gaze, and his eyes met with hers. He saw the tear in her eye and decided to make Sakura his woman.
“I feared you being with me would bring bad memories, but it appeared as if I was undecided if I wanted you or not. Then worry not Sakura. Become mine forever. This is my answer. Overheat.” He said with a determined gaze and raised his hands.
Soon his power rivaled hers. Vincent placed his hands on her shoulders and forcefully slid from her bear hug.
“You are my strong woman now.” He said with a hoarse voice and puffing green steam. His feet weren’t touching from the bear hug, so Vincent sat in her arms. He placed his hand under her chin and raised her head.
Vincent then passionately kissed Sakura while green steam hindered their steamy passionate vision.
Vincent didn’t want to risk handling Sakura without the insurance of boosted strength. His body was at stake, and his physical resistance still hadn’t reached ten percent yet.
*Inside Vincent’s Soul Domain*
Kazumi stopped sharing her senses with Wolfie and Freerie.
[You see that Wolfie and Freerie. Your soul father is making out with a new soon-to-be soul mother. I wonder what will be born from Sakura’s soul.]
[I hope it’s not a living tool, for example, a hammer. We don’t have hands to help it move.]
[Ohh! I know. What about a living and breathing building? It would be lovely, but I wonder how it would look like.]
*Bark*
[Would you like a kennel?]
*~Woof~*
[It seems you like one by how happy you look.]
[Huh?]
[Freerie. You guys also want a place to call home in here too? Well, resting on the grass gets boring after a while.]
The sixteen butterflies flew in a circle to show the answer yes. Then they changed the flying pattern to a square and later flew in a spiral.
It didn’t take much time for Kazumi to realize what they meant.
[Something like a beehive?]
Freerie flew in a circle pattern once again.
[Sigh. I hope I didn’t get your hopes up.]
*~Woof~* Wolfie skipped around Kazumi as if it wanted to cheer her up. Similarly, Freerie flew around both of them, and one of each Freerie representing each of the four element patterns made a couple of spins and flips.
[Thank you for your pleasant company. I would be depressed without you cuties, hehe.]
Kazumi thought enough time had passed, so she used Mana Sense to open a vision mana detector link for her and the seventeen emerald living statutes beside her to check on the situation outside.
As Kazumi expected, Vincent wasn’t using Overheat anymore. He was standing on his feet, holding his pained back from the bear hug he received.
Sakura was constantly apologized for being too rough and not controlling her strength like always. It might become a new funny pattern, Kazumi thought.
[I am back Vincent the lips slayer. So, what did I miss? Nothing bone-breaking, I hope, hehe.]
