Chapter 311
Yula was to invite Eliara and Fliara and later Len and Renn separately. Later, she would clean the plates as the kitchen duty would be mostly in her hands. Yula needed to discuss with Maid Xu and Sofy how they would split the work, but both were asleep.
Vincent, Ester, Lupa, Sakura, and Lilith went to Lilith’s bedroom after Vincent requested Lilith a favor.
“My mate, why are we here?” Lupa questioned.
Lupa saw a large bed, but nothing else caught her interest. She cold smelled a flowery scent, yet she couldn’t see any flowers. Nothing fun other than sleeping on a comfy bed after a good meal was in her sight.
“Lilith spent years reading and collecting books, so I asked her to inform us on what we don’t know.” Vincent then turned his gaze on Lupa and continued, “Lupa, you know as much as I know about this world. Doesn’t my right-hand girl want to be best girl?”
Lupa raised her hand and exclaimed, “Then I want to know. Sister Lilith, teach me, teach me!”
Lupa rushed and jumped on the bed. Then she quickly rolled, and as if it was a circus act, Lupa stopped rolling in a sitting position on the edge of the bed.
“Hehehe.”
.....
“Huh? What is so funny? I wanna know!” Lupa pouted when she saw everyone in the room chuckling or giggling at her whimsical behavior.
“Anyways, what I am trying to say is that Lilith is an expert about the present and the past since she read so many books nobles can have access to.” Vincent turned his gaze at Lilith and added, “We need Lilith to teach us.”
“I...” Lilith started feeling uneasy as all eyes in the bedroom were on her.
Ester approached Lilith and patted her back. “We are your sisters. We... well, other than Lupa will patiently wait for you to tell us. I, unfortunately, don’t know too much nor was...” Ester stopped with a saddened gaze, yet she continued a moment later, “was with my parents enough to learn about the world.”
“Lilith, I remember how much you cried when you saw in the state of nightmares, but you do not need to fear us. ” Sakura said. She looked at Vincent and continued, “Vincent said I am not scary or ugly, and I want to believe him... so how do you see me, Lilith? Do I look like I am going to eat you?”
“N-no! You are attractively lean and fit, unlike me. Your face is nice to look at as well. Furthermore, it is funny watching Vincent tease you and you rou... Ahem, tease him back.” Lilith responded.
“Ohh... well, I don’t know about that. ” Sakura lightly blushed as she said this.
[Looks like everyone noticed how Sakura is the one playing with you instead of the other way around. Hahaha.]
*Cough, cough* “It seems Lilith is feeling better. Lilith, we are your family now, so act however you want and don’t mind too much if you make a mistake or two. The worst that can happen is make us smile.” Vincent tried to change the subject as his spine started to feel an ache from phantom pain.
Sakura regained her composure and continued, “My father and my brothers raised me, but our family doesn’t know much other than we live in fear of another great purge. The noble-ranked demons might know, though. The past is a subject no one brings up, so it is impossible for me to know much unless I wanted me, and possibly my family to be targeted with scorn after pushing my luck.”
“What are we waiting for? Let’s start! I want to become the best right-hand girl! Teach us, sister Lilith.” Lupa cheered to start learning while innocently stating her objective openly.
“Thank you, Ester and Sakura. Ester, you may sit. I feel better now because of the two of you.” Lilith said with a smile. She didn’t appear to be as nervous as she was previously.
Ester returned a warm smile and went to sit on the bed. Sakura sat on the bed next.
Vincent pulled up a chair and sat beside the bed. Now, Lilith was the only one standing. Her assignment was to inform everyone what she knew about the world they live in and the past.
“I think you all should have heard the words, ” thank the dragon gods” by now. Honestly, no one can confirm they are gods, but I once read a book about how some people sighted dragons a few times every century. But the book also stated that the Dragon Ascent Religion would... let’s stay invite them to make sure it was a dragon instead of a wyvern.”
Vincent and Kazumi immediately understood the Dragon Ascent Religion was a group they should not mess with, as Lilith led them to believe how they have a lot of authority. What Lilith said next confirmed their assumption.
“I asked Maid Xu to return the book I just mentioned after I finished reading it. I didn’t have much money to buy new books, so I had to rent and buy ones I wanted to read many times.”
“I... I was given a few copper coins as pocket change every month to stop Maid Xu from complaining about my situation. One time I had to stop her from continuing her complaints... the guards looked quite angry, and I... I became terrified. I didn’t want Maid Xu to get kicked out and leave me alone.”
Lilith stopped and took a breath to forget about the past.
“Maid Xu didn’t see the same librarian nor the book we borrowed about a week after. However, Maid Xu and I didn’t worry too much since I was already in a... a horrible place.”
Lilith clarified that the book might have contained something the public didn’t need to know or a cryptic message hidden within. Regardless, Vincent and Kazumi didn’t ask for the book’s contents.
“Where was I... yes, the dragons of origin. The book I mentioned had more notes of real or fake dragon sightings than information. It was more like a dragon sightings book hidden in an ordinary Dragons Ascent Bible.”
“I had read the complete Dragons Ascent Bible in my parent’s house. The oldest records state that the world was named two thousand years ago.”
“The name of the world originates from the names of the Origin Dragon King Kinrozh and Origin Dragon Queen Queslashi. The world we live in was called by our forefathers Rozashi.”
“The two dragons of origin offered their lives to make all living beings in the world strong enough to survive what the books stated as the apocalypse from repeating.”
“Verse fifty-one. It was a joyous day for humanity as the gods in the form of dragons descended from the dragon heaven. At the same time, the dazzling sunlight gleamed on their mesmerizing golden scales, making their appearance overwhelmingly magnificent, causing many to faint upon the faintest glimpse at the gods.”
Lilith blushed and scratched her cheek embarrassingly. “That is the only complete sentence I can remember.” She said.
“The past sounds interesting, but the apocalypse part caught me off guard. I didn’t see any information regarding dragons nor the end of the world on the book that brought me here.” Vincent said.
On the other hand, Kazumi did her utmost best not to comment and listen carefully as her curiosity was greatly piqued. The past of this world named Rozashi sounded juicier than she ever expected.
“The dragons of origin split their souls into thousands and thousands of light, which the book depicts as majestic threads of light dancing in the radiant sky and entering into the soul of every living being.
“Regrettably, the dragons of origin fell lifelessly on the ground, and dozens of smaller dragons carried their bodies to the dragon heaven. The Dragon Ascent Religion erected their main temple in the same location the two dragons touched the ground.”
“The books stated that from that day onwards, people began discovering how they felt stronger, a few more than the others started calling themselves the Awakened as well.”
“Plants, insects, animals, people of any races, and even those classified as monsters were now able to awaken in two ways. The former three create a copy of their new empowered soul as solidified fragments inside their body as a Magic Core. The latter two makes the soul awaken a class and empower the soul to fuel the body with might.”
“The example written in the book was how Humans could use mana from their soul while animals from their magical core. Humans and various intelligent races gain classes while animals awaken to magical beasts or demonic beasts.”
“Ohh! I know! I know! My mate changed me to become intelligent and pretty. I have a class too, hehe.” Lupa boasted.
Lilith and Sakura didn’t understand what Lupa was saying. They looked at Lupa with a puzzled frown.
“Ahh. Yes. I haven’t told you three yet because it would be impossible to guess unless we mention how Lupa was originally a white wolf instead of a beastman. I am not sure if Lupa had a core or not, but it doesn’t appear when I inspect her stats now. Lupa now looks like an ordinary beastman with a soul like ours.” Vincent informed.
“Hehe, I got revenge for my parents, found my perfect mate, and became best girl Lupa that day. ” Lupa added to the story.
