Chapter 380
“What is happening? How can he look like that?”
“Is he on fire? There is smoke coming out of his mouth! Is he still considered a human?”
“The Inspection Gemstone said he is a human. So could it be his class?”
“He mentioned something about having the ability to boost his stats... he looks like a strange per... monster.”
Anyone who never saw Vincent use Overheat couldn’t believe what was happening. Vincent changed too much to be simply called a skill. Some started to doubt their eyes.
They saw that Vincent’s eyes remained shining, and the gaze felt a little intimidating, and a pair of green gauntlets covered his arms. Steam which was easy to mistake as smoke exited from his mouth and the cracks at the back of his hands.
Even if they didn’t look at Vincent, they could feel his presence.
Maria approached Biro. “It looks like you knew about his unusual appearance. Does it mean the headmaster knew as well?” She asked.
.....
Maria was frowning, and her face showed signs of annoyment and surprise after learning about Vincent’s skill right at this moment. It appeared she wasn’t told all about Vincent and Lilith.
“Yeah, Vincent showed us that form at his wedding while playing a fun game with Melissa. Furthermore, he improved way faster than anyone I have ever seen.” Biro responded while grinning excitedly. “Maira, now you know why I am here, don’t you? ”
“Improved?” Maria asked.
“Do not be alarmed, but I sent my familiar to spy and report to me about Vincent’s stats. Vincent arrived in the city and registered in the Adventurers Guild about a month ago. Now it appears Vincent has about double the stats than he had before.” Biro revealed to Maria how he had his eyes set on Vincent.
Biro placed his hand on Maria’s shoulder and continued, “The annoying guild leader Gevan told me how Vincent’s age is actually twenty-five years old. It appears his strange skill increased his age to thirty-two years old. But it might be because he almost died from acid covering all his body.”
“Acid?” Maira couldn’t believe Vincent, who looked healthy apart from the bandage-wrapped waist, had his entire body covered in acid.
“Yeah, he is famous for going everywhere covered in bandages from his neck down. It was after he abruptly left the city that his body mysteriously recovered.” Biro rubbed his chin and continued after pondering for a few seconds, “Did he steal a secret life-saving healing potion when he kill... ”
“Kill?” Maria interrupted.
*Cough, cough* “Ask Darwin for more info regarding this matter. He is your magic teacher and savior, after all.” Biro smiled and looked away. “Some things should be left for teacher and disciple.”
Maira knew Biro wanted to drop the subject. She stopped as Biro wanted and looked at Vincent holding Lilith like a princess.
Vincent was smiling at his wife, and his mannerism showed confidence. He looked certain he could run while carrying Lilith without the thought of failing.
“Vincent... this is... embarrassing...” Lilith said with a pair of bright red cheeks nervously. She raised her hands and covered her face.
[Vincent, this is a nice sight. Thankfully Lupa isn’t here, or she would cause a problem for sure.]
Vincent smirked at the thought. He looked at Lilith and said, “Hold still. This will be over soon.”
Vincent took a step. He leaned his body, and *Thud!* he sprang forward with a burst of speed. Vincent ran unhindered by Lilith’s weight.
Nick stood still and watched Vincent run as fast as a C Ranker and above. Similarly, Biro and Ollie grinned while watching Vincent speeding with Lilith in his arms. Maira now wanted to ask Darwin about who is this mysterious Vincent Lionheart.
The students couldn’t believe what was happening. Vincent was carrying an overweight woman like a princess while running. Furthermore, he did not display a hint of discomfort, which baffled anyone who looked at him run.
“How is he running like that?”
“How stronger did he get to run faster than me?”
Most of the students were too baffled to run. In the end, Vincent ran two laps while only a few students who tried to challenge him kept running.
“We are done. Let me take you to the shade to rest.” Vincent said while heading over to the trees with the bullseye targets. He gently placed Lilith on the ground and summoned a handkerchief for Lilith to clean her face.
“T-thank you...” Lilith thanked him quietly. She was too embarrassed to talk normally. Her heart was racing, even if she wasn’t the one who ran.
“Nothing I would do for my cute wife. ” Vincent replied with a beaming smile. He turned around and ran to the starting line.
Vincent arrived shortly. He began to stretch his body while it sheened under the sun from a layer of sweat. His muscles attracted the attention of both genders and the bandage as well.
Nick finished running a lap and approached Vincent. “I respect you, my friend.” He said.
“You better start running, or I will win. ” Vincent smirked. “Or are you looking for a girl to carry?”
“N-no....” Nick blushed when his gaze landed on Clair running so slow it could be considered as jogging. Nick was going to say something else, but a commotion soon caught his and Vincent’s attention.
“So that’s your complaints?” Biro loudly asked for all to hear. In front of him were two students from the physical line and five from the mage line.
“The student’s named Vincent and Lilith aren’t cheating. He is using a skill that doesn’t use mana, and as for being carried, it is allowed. However, the carrier will not have their laps counted, only those carried will. That means Vincent over there needs to run his laps now.” Biro explained.
“What will anyone do in a dangerous situation without the possibility to cast a spell in time, huh? Helping a person is a selfless act that needs a higher fitness level.” Biro then pointed at Vincent and continued, “Pass the finish line with a pair of legs is what I told Vincent. He understood immediately and used all he had to accomplish his objective.”
*Thud* Biro slammed his foot on the ground and said with a frown, “You better start running. Or will you complain to a bandit or a beast to stop chasing after you because you need time to prepare?”
[Look at the salty people, haha. Biro is treating them like children, and it is hilarious.]
The students both on the track and those in front of Biro decided to complete their laps and prove how they could without using a skill because Vincent was a cheater in their eyes, which wasn’t false in a sense.
“Run! We can’t lose to him!”
“Yeah, he doesn’t have noble blood running through his veins!”
“He attracted the attention of my crush. I will outrun that bastard!”
Many of the male students glared at Vincent while saying hateful comments. They felt humiliated after Biro’s explanation made them look like a whiny child throwing a tantrum.
“Doesn’t he look hot?”
“I want to be carried like that and gobble his body when I have the chance.”
“It’s like the handsome and the beast. I want to be with him and change the last part to beauty.”
Many of the female students lustfully gazed at Vincent’s body while saying envious comments. However, they occasionally glared at Lilith as if she had taken someone from them.
Vincent glanced at Lilith, and their eyes met. She was looking at him attentively.
Vincent smiled and waved at Lilith as if there was no one other than them around. Soon, he turned his head and ignored his surroundings while focusing on the track ahead.
Vincent leaned his body, took a running form, and sprung forward with a burst of strength. He ran so fast it became difficult to turn around the corners. He wasn’t driving a car, so he couldn’t drift.
Regardless of the difficulty or speed and control, he finished lap after lap much faster than the rest. In the end, he finished in seventh place.
Vincent stopped using Overheat. He summoned a rag and wiped his body on his way to Lilith. He sat beside her and gave her a cup of water to drink.
Soon, all the students were finished with their laps.
Melissa frowned that she took second place. She kept running with her eyes on the price because she wished to be the best out of all the first years.
However, Lilith was carried to first place about a few minutes before her.
[There are many eyes on you mister I don’t want to attract attention. But still, this is a fun sight, hehehe.]
Kazumi giggled uncontrollably while watching many female students ogling at Vincent’s toned glistening body. On the other hand, many male students were glaring at him for attracting too much attention.
Later, Biro called for attention. All the fifty students gathered and waited to hear the results.
Lilith held Vincent’s hand firmly when her name was called out as the winner because dozens upon dozens of gazes with different emotions looked her way. Regardless of being first or last, she couldn’t escape a situation like this.
“With the ranking out of the way, I hope everyone realized how important physical activity is.” Biro looked content while saying this.
Biro wanted the students to seek the joy of physical activity because many people, such as mages, end up spending more time meditating and seeking peace of mind to increase their mana while neglecting their bodies.
In the end, the majority of the nobles with a mage-related class have a potbelly. There were already a couple from the mage line that was morbidly obese. They were the ones who glared at Vincent the most.
