Chapter 398
“I said Submit!” Vincent swung his hand and slapped the tiger with all his might. The tiger’s jaw became dislocated, yet it kept glaring and growling weirdly.
“Damn it!” Biro had no choice. He went beside Vincent, grabbed him from his gauntlets, and tossed him a few meters in the air.
Biro channeled a spell in his blade and combined it with Energy Flow. “Splinter Slash!” He shouted while swinging his blade engulfed in power at the tiger.
When the blade swung, an arch of pressurized mana, with sharp paper-thin earth as the arch’s core, made a sharp turn upwards and chopped the tiger’s head off.
*Thud* The tiger’s head fell, yet the body bleeding a fountain of yellow blood, remained standing.
*Tiss* The fountain of blood spraying on Biro melted his earth armor. Steam rose from the blood as if it was acid instead of blood.
“What the hell is happing? Wasn’t this thing awakened? It should have awakened the frosh power instead of acid.” Biro was confused about the sight before him.
*Step* The headless tiger’s body moved all of a sudden. It gave the impression it wasn’t dead yet. *Step* The body moved again.
.....
A figure with a green trail following him suddenly landed on the tiger’s back.
Vincent looked down and glared at the body while acting as if unfathomable rage possessed him. He shoved his curled fingers in the tiger’s back. He held on the back with a firm hold and began absorbing its mana viciously.
“Vincent, get away from there!” Ton shouted.
Ton turned his gaze at the students. They were huddled together while Ollie stood in front of them to protect them if it became necessary.
They were safe. Vincent was the only student unnecessarily placing himself in danger.
The tiger’s body slowly moved forward while Vincent absorbed mana from its body. Soon, ten charges were available.
“Shatter!” Vincent shouted while using Overflow’s version of Force Shock. Chaotic mana rippled inside the tiger’s headless body and destroyed it from within.
Biro and Ton looked at each other and nodded. They couldn’t wait any longer. Ton rushed and jumped on the tiger’s back. He grabbed Vincent and pulled him away.
Enough power was collected to finish the tiger’s body around Biro’s blade for good. It was covered with a destructive force, and small shards of earth spiraled around the blade like a drill.
Biro swung his blade multiple times when the coast was clear with all his might. Each swing sent a wide sharp pressure wave chopping the body, and each vertical swing left a small aperture in the earth.
Soon, the body became too dismembered to guess what was killed.
Vincent regained his senses. He looked at the gory scene and understood what had happened. He lost control of his reasoning again.
However, no one was in danger this time. The cause was different. Vincent suddenly felt hate, anger, and the wish to control or devour his enemy. This was the first time he felt as if meeting a mortal enemy without reason.
[Vincent, thank god you are back with us. You worried me sick after that stunt you pulled. Furthermore, this is the first time you lost your reason without affecting the Soul Domain.]
[You acted as if possessed without affecting your soul. What happened this time was different than the previous times.]
‘Different?...’ Vincent looked at the blood. ‘Why do I still feel a strange connection? As if that is my blood?’
Vincent approached the yellow blood with acidic nature. It was steaming as if it was boiling and evaporating slowly.
“Vincent, come back! What are you doing now? The situation is still unknown!” Ton warned. He grabbed Vincent’s shoulder to pull him away, but he found resistance as Vincent’s strength was close to his.
“Ton is right, Vincent. I never heard of a magical beast or at least snow tiger having yellow blood, which is both scalding and acidic.” Biro added.
Biro looked at Vincent’s body, but the yellow blood evaporated, and a few parts of his clothes were dissolved, yet his skin was uninjured. A thought flashed in his mind.
First was the sudden emergence of the Ant Queen and now a snow tiger awakening without an explanation.
Furthermore, the seasons help animals awaken slightly, but the summer was the opposite of the ice core a snow tiger creates. In the tiger’s situation, the tiger had one in a million chance to awaken.
“Could this be the work of The Seers Of Rebirth? Are they targeting our academy for research now?” Biro questioned.
Vincent lowered on his knee and placed his hand covered by Overheat’s gauntlet on the pool of blood.
Vincent closed his eyes and tried to think why was his heart was racing? Why was he excited to fight? Why was he feeling the need to devour the enemy even if it is in pieces now?
The yellow blood began hissing as if it was boiling. It started to wave and wiggle as if there were gusts of wind. Suddenly, the blood moved in Vincent’s direction.
[Watch out!]
“Get away from the blood! ” Both Biro and Ton warned.
Inside the Soul Domain, the crystal grass radiated brightly. It became so bright that it illuminated a vast distance of the endless darkness around it.
Wolfie and all of Freerie suddenly went together in the middle of the crystal grass and rested beside each other.
The yellow blood formed tiny tentacles and latched on Vincent’s mutated hardened gauntlets. It somehow seeped inside and entered his body.
“Urgh!” Vincent felt pain while the two types of blood fought each other.
Ton and Biro grabbed Vincent’s shoulder, but they couldn’t pull Vincent away from the blood even with their strength. It was pulling him with a greater force in the opposite direction.
Kazumi heard a strange noise in the soul domain. She looked at the black sky and saw a radiant yellow waterfall falling. She became worried this might be the end.
*Rumble* The soul domain shook violently. A geyser erupted, and a green substance shot into the sky. Wolfie and all of Freerie were on it. Soon, the green and yellow substances clashed.
.
[Warning! Unrefined mutated substance detected.]
[Beginning the process of Assimilation and Conversion.]
.
Kazumi worried about what was happening to Vincent, Wolfie, and Freerie. She had to do something quickly.
Kazumi left Vincent’s body and used Soul Visit on Biro.
Biro was surprised since this was his first time, but Kazumi quickly filled in the necessary details as quickly as possible.
Kazumi mentioned how the yellow blood might be highly flammable because the blood is mutated. Biro understood the situation after a few questions of his own while vowing to find out how this all happened.
Soon, Biro’s consciousness returned to the living world.
Biro was attuned to the earth element, so he ordered Ton to use his fire element on the yellow blood. Ton nodded and channeled a part of his fire element armor to his sword.
*Boom* Upon the blood was touched by the fire, not only caught did it catch on fire, but all the blood exploded as there were traces of gunpowder.
Vincent, Biro, and Ton were knocked back a few meters by the sudden blast. Vincent and Ton slammed and rolled on the ground while Biro controlled the weight of his earth armor to fall on his feet.
Nick and Ollie ran to check on Vincent, Ton, and Biro.
Biro was touching his brittle earth armor. It was falling apart from the blast. The explosion appeared to have been stronger than usual. On the other hand, Ton had used his fire armor to reduce the blast damage.
Class A students looked at each other and decided to follow after Nick and Ollie.
“Vincent. Wake up.” Nick tugged Vincent’s shoulder, but he didn’t respond.
Biro noticed the students heading their way. They were looking with a curious and disgusted gaze at the burnt pieces of the mutated tiger.
“Listen up! I, Duke Biro Hawkins, order you all not to reveal what happened. Today, someone used a defective scroll and made a mess.” Biro crossed his arms and continued, “However, as you all saw, the snow tiger awakened, and Vincent Lionheart thought he could use a Fire Ball scroll to beat the magic beast by himself.”
*Sigh* Biro shook his head and acted disappointed. “That is what happens when you purchase a cheap and defective scroll.”
“Who buys scrolls from shady people these days?”
“A commoner’s blood runs through his veins after all.”
“I thought it was a demonic beast, but it ended up being a badly made defective scroll.”
The students gossiped in a low voice. Afterward, they used the academy card and left. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how one sees it, the students were easily tricked after quickly believing how cheap commanders can be. To them, Vincent was a commoner with a minor noble title.
“Teachers, can I take Vincent to his wives? One of them is a goblin herbalist. I think they should treat him instead of the infirmary.” Nick requested.
Nick didn’t believe Biro’s words because he knew Vincent wasn’t too weak to depend on a scroll. Regardless of what Nick felt, he wanted to bring Vincent to his wives.
Biro and Ton looked at each other. They nodded and approached Vincent. Soon, a soothing chat was followed by light. His body was being healed with Minor Heal.
“You can take Vincent, but come look for us if a complication that is out of your hands occurs. We will come to assist immediately.” Biro said.
Nick placed his hand on Vincent and teleported together.
Biro, Ton, and Ollie had a lot of things to do. After they saw Nick and Vincent leave, the first on the list was to collect the evidence... or whatever remained of the BBQ tiger.
*Private Island Residence – Night*
Many hours later, Vincent and Kazumi woke up at the same time.
Vincent saw himself surrounded by his wives sitting on the bed, while Kazumi saw herself surrounded by a vast emerald crystal field.
