Chapter 647
‘I thought something else could happen. Maybe like popping out on its own.’ Vincent thought.
Vincent tried to send another order to the plant, but it did not follow his order this time. As if the plant couldn’t receive it.
Vincent believed the connection might have been removed. *Gulp* He grabbed the plant and tried pulling it out. With one swift movement, the plant was removed effortlessly without shedding a drop of blood.
All eyes in the room looked attentively at the plant in Vincent’s hand. The roots were red, and it gave an ominous feeling. No matter how it could be controlled, it was a parasitic plant in the end.
Upon contact with the air, the root was the first to begin withering and cracking from the dryness. The weakness of the Limb Seed was discovered. The roots can not survive out in the open.
Iris saw the plant wither and die in less than ten seconds. “Can I return it to the earth?” She asked while extending one hand.
“Sure. ” Vincent agreed. He didn’t want to cover the bedsheet with pieces of dried plant remnants.
Iris took the withered plant carefully as if she was holding a corpse. Iris retracted her hand while extending the other hand.
.....
“Can I have some seeds, please?” Iris requested with a difficult-to-reject cute gaze.
The bedroom became silent for a moment before Vincent, Ester, Lupa, Lilith, and Sakura started laughing. Plow tilted her head while Jun Ye Rim didn’t understand the joke.
Iris blushed, yet her arm remained extended. She wanted the seeds no matter if she felt embarrassed to be this open about wanting something.
[You can create eighteen more seeds today. So, I guess you can give them to Iris. She definitely wants to plant them or try to use them for medicine.]
Vincent frowned. ‘Eighteen?... I hope I have enough strength to make them.’ He pondered.
Vincent placed his hand above Iris’s hand. “Your wish is granted.” He said with a poker face to hide his doubt.
One after the other dropped Limb Seeds on Iris’s hand. The more were created, the slower the creation process took. The last seed fell on her hand after a five-second interval.
Iris looked at her hand and smiled delightfully with her cute dimples showing. Iris was acting similarly to a person who had received a treasure or won the lotto.
“Good night, Vincent. I want to bury the plant right now.” Iris said before turning around and leaving the bedroom in a hurry.
[It is obvious Iris has other plans in mind. I bet she wants to try using the seeds.]
-... but I haven’t told her how to control the Limb Seed.-
[Iris is the brightest girl we know when it involves plants. I believe she can figure out how it works after less than five failures.]
“Ahem.” Ester cleared her throat to gather Vincent’s attention. “Do not think we forgot about you leaving tomorrow.”
“Outing! Outing! Plow wants to come with.” *Pho!* Plow cheerfully said.
Lupa excitedly raised her hand and requested, “I want to go with my mate too! I can protect my mate better than the sly little fox.”
*Pho?* “Take that back, bad wolf. Plow is very very strong!”
*Sigh* “Calm down, girls. But Lupa and Plow are right on one thing. I hope you aren’t thinking of going alone.” Lilith said with a worried frown.
Lilith was worried Kazumi wasn’t enough to keep Vincent company. Kazumi could only assist Vincent by speech. The most she could do was to motivate him.
Vincent needed to be helped physically. With would spell trouble for Vincent if he got injured in cold weather in this current state. Being stranded in the snow could be a death wish, Lilith believed.
‘What do I do? I want to clear my mind instead of traveling in a large group.’ Vincent looked at Plow and had an idea.
“How about I take Plow and Zero?” Suggested Vincent, hoping to travel in a small group with the little Plow and with not too large Zero. Vincent, however, didn’t know Zero had become a lot smaller than he previously was.
*Pho ?, Pho ?* Plow was the first to respond by barking happily. She jumped in full joy while wagging her tails.
“What about best girl?” Lupa asked while her eyes began tearing. Her ears also lowered, showing how heartbroken she was to lose to Plow.
“I understand. Taking Plow and Zero with you is a good idea.” Lilith said while Ester and Sakura agreed with a nod.
Lilith placed her hand on Lupa’s shoulder and gently rubbed it to comfort her. “I am a little sad I and not going with Vincent too. Best girl Lupa has to sit this one out like us, unfortunately.”
Ester placed her hand on Lupa’s other shoulder. “Don’t you think it would be better to train? Vincent said Duke Lucas with a visit to train us.”
*Clap* After Sakura clapped, she suggested, “Won’t best girl Lupa want to enjoy a good fight and grow stronger? You can surprise Vincent upon his return.”
“Humph. You can die for all I care. Go and play in the forest and remain weak to be killed in the judgment by combat.” Jun Ye Rim bluntly said.
Jun Ye Rim noticed her words were too mean, so she changed her tone while continuing, “Death is inevitable, but I don’t want death to come from our side. It is not like I care about your safety, though, t-that is all. Humph.”
[Hehe. Honest much.] Kazumi teased.
Lupa’s ears raised, and her tail wagged gently. The thought of sparing against an opponent who Lupa could never defeat intrigued her.
The spirit of combat in Lupa was ignited, and her desire to fight grew larger. Lupa chose so could let Vincent go while she got to become stronger and requested to be rewarded for her effort. Sparring with Lucas and having fun fighting was secondary.
“I can let the sly fox win this time because I want to see my mate become healthy again. ” Lupa said with a wide grin. She didn’t look unhappy anymore. Rather, Lupa was more excited than ever.
Ester, Lilith, and Sakura saw Lupa’s excited emotion painted all over her face. They giggled, but the time to have a fun giggle was over.
Vincent gently wobbled. His eyes closed shut, and his head hit the headstand.
Everyone was worried at first, but Jun Ye Rim said, “Kazumi says Vincent is sleeping. He became exhausted after creating the seeds.”
“Phew.” They felt relieved there was nothing wrong with Vincent. He was only exhausted.
*Royal Carriage*
In the royal carriage, Lucas and Anna were discussing the eventful day they got to experience.
“Princess Anna, why did you grace that invader monster thing your kindness? Accepting him could place the Lusterfall Kingdom in danger.”
“I know the risks, Bilka. But I do not want to abandon someone merely because their body is different. If Vincent was not a kind person, I would have asked Duke Lucas to...”
“Hahahaha.” Lucas started laughing.
“Is the idea of the Lusterfall Kingdom being placed in danger funny to you?”
“Please do not be angry, Bilka.” Anna requested with a pleasantly calming voice.
Bilka crossed her arms. “Humph! I will let it go for now.”
“I didn’t laugh because of the danger we could be involved in. I laughed because of how our gracious Princess sees Vincent.”
“Thank you. ” Anna responded with a faint blush.
“I wanted to be on friendly terms with Vincent as he seemed to be a good person that threats others well.” *Cough* “And because he gave me the possibility to move on my own.”
Anna shook her head. “Regardless of what I implied in my last sentence, I was willing to accept Vincent if our suspicions were correct.”
“The otherworlder killed by the Selos Kingdom was after Vincent was born, based on the information I gathered. ” Lucas explained. “That is the reason I mentioned the idea of Vincent being the retainer of the previous otherworlder.”
“Humph. He is the otherworlder said to bring destruction into our life.” Bilka looked at Anna and continued, ” But fear not, I will protect you at all costs. I promise.”
“Thank you.” Anna thanked Bilka while a pleasantly warm smile was on her face.
“What if Vincent was always honest with us and the people surrounding him?”
“What if the destruction he brings is different than the destruction Summoner Invader brought to our world?”
“What if Vincent helped us as the first summoned otherworlder did before discovering it was a fake front to bring more devastation after he betrayed the world with his atrocities?
Lucas stopped bringing up questions about what could happen in the future if they left Vincent alive and also built a friendly relationship with.
Anna clasped her hands together and raised them to her lips. “I pray to the dragon gods and hope Vincent is the person we go to know. I pray to the dragon gods and hope Vincent can bring the destruction of change.”
“The destruction of change? Isn’t destruction bad?” Bilka questioned with a deep frown on her face. She feared Anna was being influenced by Vincent and going to the dark side.
“Our Princess is intelligent, unlike someone in the carriage. Hahaha.” Lucas taunted.
“Did you tell me?”
“Oh! Looks like the person I mention is asking a question. Haha.”
*Grrr*
